Equipping people to be free, connected and engaged by building the capacity for companionship to create a compassionate world.
Leader: Amy French
This workshop is a 6-week series designed to help non-singers (or so they think) and novices gain confidence and find the beauty in psalm singing. It will include some history of Anglican chant, sharing past expereinces with chanting/singing and then diving into some music... begining with very simplified versions and working up to more complex forms as participants desire. Some of the ideas offered by the Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault will be incorporated, with particular attention to tone, breath, intention, and community.
Amy French has sung with St. John's choir for 30 years and the Ars Nova singers for 25 years. She has been a cantor with the St. John's Evensong group for over 15 years, and also holds a "Certificate of Figure Proficiency" from the Estill Voice Traning System. Amy is a retired middle school teacher and lives in Boulder with her husband, Jack Rook.
