Musical Prayer: Gregorain Chant & Spirituality Retreat

  • November 19, 2010
  • November 21, 2010
  • Abbey of St. Walburga, Virginia Dale, CO

Leader: Sr. Hildegard Dubnick, OSB

The living tradition of Gregorian Chant connects with the early days of the Church’s life of prayer. For over a thousand years, Christians have worshipped God in song with texts from the Latin Scriptures, set to pure melodies that enhance and inform the interpretation of the words.
In this retreat, participants will become acquainted with Gregorian notation and the principles of bringing this music to life. In addition, we will explore the relationship of text and music that makes chant such a powerful way of prayer.
