Have you ever felt like getting older was more than an increasing number of aches and pains? Have you ever asked where is there meaning after retirement? Are you alarmed that you might have slowed down ever so slightly? All these things are typical as we age. Our elder years also hold the promise of spiritual growth and development. There is significant work to be done to make adjustments in the externals of our lives. More importantly there is opportunity for continued development and growth on the inside. The focus of this class is to look at the tasks of aging in three categories, practical, psychological and spiritual. We will consider a sampling of tasks from each category and give participants the chance to add other tasks that are important to them. Identifying the tasks is the starting point. Completing these tasks has as its purpose to promote continued development and brings with it the satisfaction of a life well lived. The class is designed so that participants have the opportunity to evaluate where they are in accomplishing tasks and what they might be called to next. It will identify resources that can be used to work on the various tasks. The class encourages participants to integrate the various dimensions of aging and see how aging can be transformative.
