Contemplative Walk Description: This contemplative walking experience will move at a gentle, conversational walking pace and will offer an opportunity to center, listen more deeply, and set personal intentions based on the writings of Hildegard of Bingen. The walk will include readings for reflection, guided invitations for deeper conversation and inner listening, and an opportunity to walk with each other observing sacred silence while our steps bless the Earth and all its creatures as an embodied compassion, peace, and prayer.

After our walking retreat, we will spend time understanding more about walking as a sacred practice as experienced in various faith traditions and you will be encouraged to start your own personal or communal walking practice.

The specific locations to meet will be announced closer to the time of the walk.  All trails will be handicapped accessible.

Hildegard of Bingen is a 1stth Century mystic abbess, artist, author, composer, pharmacist, poet, preacher, and theologian who saw people as “’living sparks’ of God’s love, coming from God as daylight comes from the sun”. Hildegard believed that every creature is interconnected as if held by the other. During our walk, we will reflect on Hildegard’s belief that we can find God’s “loving embrace in every creature”.

"Holy persons draw to themselves all that is earthly. . . .
The earth is at the same time mother,
She is mother of all that is natural,
mother of all that is human.
She is the mother of all,
for contained in her
are the seeds of all."
--Hildegard of Bingen

Maria Rosa Galter, a Walk2Connect Member-Owner and founder of EPIC Life Walks, invites you to experience the benefits of expansive, playful, intentional, and creative contemplative walking retreats at 2-3 MPH. Maria, a student at Benedictine Spiritual Formation Program and graduate of the Bovine Metropolis Theater School of Improv, is an avid hiker who loves to correlate improv, life, and spirituality. She explores those spaces in her organization, EPIC Life Walks in order to re”member” ourselves and be present to ourselves, each other, and our world of transcendent beauty. We become aware of the Source of all Life that flows into our being. Our hearts unlock so we can freely play in the vast goodness of the Creator’s universe. We were created to awaken and live with joyful abandon, connected to the exuberance of love, beauty, kindness, and abundance.

We regret we are unable to refund registration fee. You may pass your registration to someone else.  Thank you for your understanding.
