Leader: Mother Tessa Bielecki

In the midst of our harried lives resides vast, unencumbered spaciousness and stillness. For millions and across many wisdom tradtions, teachers have drawn upon the inspiration of the desert to access this inner expanse. In what ways, do our lives relate to the great wisdom figures of the desert, such as Abba Moses, St. Brigid, St. Columba, St. Patrick, or Amma Syncletia? Drawing on the teachings of the Christian and Celtic mystics and other desert traditions, Mother Tessa guides us through the practices of silence, meditation, poetry, creative writing, and immersion in nature to explore our own desert wisdom.

A Carmelite monk for almost 40 years. Tessa Bielicki co-founded the Spiritual Life Institute, and served as Mother Abbess of the contemplative Community until 2005, when she co-founded The Desert Foundation with Fr. Dave Denny. She teaches at Colorado College, gives lectures and retreats, and participates in East-West dialogues, and writes.
