Continuing Education for Spiritual Directors
(3:30 to 4 p.m. — check-in, fellowship and refreshments; the workshop concludes by 6:15 p.m. Cost: $15 to $30 as you are able. Donations support others.)

Topic
Some people come to spiritual direction to learn how to pray while others recognize this desire as other life issues arise. This workshop will explore the art of teaching prayer as one of the roles of the spiritual director. We will examine the importance of preparing the heart before new prayer methods are offered, experience some strategies that help others broaden and deepen their prayer lives, and discuss the joys and challenges of teaching others to pray.

Presenter  Jane E. Vennard is ordained in the United Church of Christ to a special ministry of teaching and spiritual direction. She is senior adjunct faculty at the Iliff School of Theology in prayer and spirituality, leads retreats nationally, and is a spiritual director in private practice. She is the author of six books, one of which is A Praying Congregation: The Art of Teaching Spiritual Practice.

Parking is available: off Washington St southbound between 14th and 13th Avenues; off Clarkson St northbound between Colfax and 14th Avenues; and on nearby streets.
